The Pilates Barrel comes in 3 separate sizes and each one is an intrigue part of any comprehensive Pilates Studio. The three types are

1.	The Pilates Ladder Barrel

2.	The Step Barrel / Spine Corrector

3.	The Pilates Baby Arc

Each has a rounded barrel-like surface that helps isolate deep postural muscles and challenges the body on all planes of movement.

As the name suggests the Pilates Ladder Barrel consists of ladder-like rungs and rounded barrel-like surface on which a multitude of stretching, strengthening and flexibility exercises can be performed.

The Pilates Ladder barrel is separated from the ladder by a sliding base that can adjust to accommodate different torso sizes and leg lengths in a range of Pilates exercises. The ladder rungs – four to six in total – are also adjustable to facilitate varying levels of fitness.

The Pilates Spine Corrector also known as the Step Barrel is designed to focus on the core abdominal, back, and shoulder muscles. By stretching and working these muscles out with the specific Pilates exercises for the barrel, ‘humpback’ is shown to disappear and spine correction occurs. Additionally, the chest muscles are also worked out, which improves breathing for a better night of sleep and throughout the day.

The Pilates Spine Corrector/ Step Barrel can treat many other problems as well; scoliosis, osteoporosis, arthritis and many others. With strong core muscles, the body can be stable and move properly again, so why wait any longer to improve your back posture?

As we age, our backs lose the natural curvature of their spine. Whether it’s from a lack of physical activity, disease, or another disorder, there are a large amount of problems that a misshapen spine can lead to; bad back posture, breathing, and health can suffer from a misshapen spine. The good news is that posture correction can be attained through appropriate measures using the Pilates Spine Corrector.

Pilates Arc Barrel: The lightweight Arc Barrels are upholstered arches that help support the back and shoulders and open up the neck, hips and thighs. They are complementary to mat workouts and are useful in providing relief from tension or injury. These barrels are: light in weight and portable

The Pilates Barrels are amazing, versatile pieces of equipment and the compact Pilates Spine Corrector and Pilates Baby Arc original design is by Joseph Pilates are ingenious peaces of small apparatus that can provides great variations for many of the Classic Mat exercises, such as Roll-Up and Roll-Over.

There are also many exercises unique to the Step Barrel / Spine Corrector that work the body at every possible angle you can imagine! If you (or your clients)

are bored with your “same old” Mat routine, get off your mat and try a challenging and fun mat exercises wile incorporating the Pilate Step Barrel.

Many exercises can be performed on the Pilates Barrels. These tools can perk up your muscles and streamline the functioning of the entire body.

As we advance in age, the muscles keep on weakening. This causes our spine to lose its natural curve. The Pilates Barrel strengthens the abdominal, back and shoulder muscles to keep the spine strong and supple. The chest opens up, shoulders straighten, and the hump back (if any) can disappear. An open chest facilitates easer and deeper breathing.

Remember to train for these exercises under the guidance of a certified Pilates instructor. Also, if you have any medical conditions, consult your doctor before performing any physical exercise

Let us learn more about Pilates and also the benefits of using it. Joseph Pilates, a German gymnast and trainer who settled in America, designed the Pilates Wunda chair about a century ago. This equipment was developed specifically for exercises that tone up certain muscles and improve the mind-body connection. The Wunda chair exercises can be done by both young and old people. Even pregnant women and those having problems of osteoporosis, high blood pressure, and sinusitis can do appropriate exercise on this special chair.

The Wunda chair has undergone changes recently so that more exercises can be performed in a scientific and effective manner.

Special Features of the Wunda Chair
Let us now look into the special features of the Wunda chair that make it so different from any other exercise equipment. This unique chair is usually made from hard wood, more specifically oak. It has an elongated seat, strong foam padding, pedals, springs, steel frames and elastic cords. The headrest and appended straps are flexible. There are wheels for moving this chair easily. Movements on this chair can be done in different postures — seated, prone, supine, side-seated, standing facing the front, facing the back, facing sideways, and standing on the top as well as on the pedals. The normal specifications of the Wunda chair are: length around 40 inches, height around 25 inches, width around 75 inches, weight around 65 ponds and loading capacity around 300 pounds.

The Wunda Chair facilitates the stretching and strengthening of muscle groups that are not easily reached by traditional equipment. The chair mainly functions on spring tension. There are two springs, each having three settings — low, middle and high. The spring tension or resistance is more at the higher setting and less at the lower setting. The springs are attached to a center pole. They slide up and down for a particular setting and for specific exercises.

To accomplish various spring tensions, we have to increase the angle of pedal. The lowest setting of one is the lightest or equivalent to one spring. In setting 2, the springs are not detached but the spring collar is moved along the pole. The spring tension on the chair, therefore, changes. If you set the resistance to number three for one leg footwork and find it difficult, slide the springs to number 2. This activity can be done easily as the Wunda chair is designed so.

Head-to-Toe Exercises

Over 80 head-to-toe exercises can be performed on the Wunda chair.
